Amitayus • In-depth Unguided Retreat

About the Unguided Retreat

On this retreat we have the opportunity to increase our lifespan, merit and wisdom, through the special meditation practice of Buddha Amitayus.

Our human life is our most precious possession because it gives us the opportunity to improve our happiness continually, ultimately enjoying the supreme happiness of enlightenment. We therefore need a long and healthy life. To ensure we are successful in our efforts, we also need wisdom, and the merit or inner good fortune that enables the growth of spiritual realisations.

Amitayus is the Buddha of long life, merit, and wisdom. By engaging in this practice, we can develop these qualities and eventually attain the deathless state of a Buddha.

The retreat sessions consist of chanted prayers sung in English and time for silent mantra recitation. The first session will begin with an introductory talk by Buddhist monk and Resident Teacher Kelsang Lachpa.
