Foundation Study Program

Take your practice deeper

The Foundation Program offers a structured approach to learning Buddhist meditation through the study of a particular book. Through in-depth study and practice, it helps us close the gap between the inspiring teachings we hear at the Centre and practising them in our daily life. We learn how to integrate all the meditation practices and wisdom advice from Buddha into our normal daily life. In this way we gradually find a deep inner peace and happiness in our lives.

By studying on this program we shall gain great confidence in meditation—from simple Buddhist techniques for developing inner peace, to the profound insights which lead to lasting wisdom and joy.

At Kadampa Meditation Centre Wellington in Island Bay we have two separate Foundation Programmes: one runs on Wednesday evenings and the other on Sunday afternoons.

Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
“By relying on the Three Study Programmes (General Programme, Foundation Programme and Teacher Training Programme) we can gradually increase our wisdom until it is completely mature, like a full moon. With this kind of wisdom we will have a firm, stable confidence when teaching Dharma to others.”
— Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Foundation Program

Join us on the Foundation Program (FP) as we study the book Joyful Path of Good Fortune.

We all have the potential for self-transformation, and a limitless capacity for the growth of good qualities. But to fulfil this potential we need to know what to do at every stage of our spiritual journey. In Joyful Path of Good Fortune we find a clear and comprehensive explanation of the entire path to enlightenment.

With this book, the author Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche offers us step-by-step guidance on the meditation practices that will lead us to lasting inner peace and happiness.

This book is a perfect guidebook to the Buddhist path.

Teacher Training Program

The Teacher Training Program (TTP) is for those wishing to become qualified Kadampa Buddhist teachers. From May 2022 we will be studying The New Guide to Dakini Land which is a comprehensive guide to the Highest Yoga Tantra practice of Vajrayogini, the female Buddha of wisdom.

This book provides a detailed and practical explanation of the two stages of Vajrayogini practice — generation stage and completion stage — and shows how we can integrate these practices into our daily life, thereby transforming every moment of our life into the path to enlightenment. It is a unique guide to becoming a Tantric enlightened being in the modern world.

Please email education@meditateinwellington.org for further information about this program.
