Suitable for everyone, these walk-in classes offer practical methods to help everyone find inner peace, happiness and well-being through meditation and Buddhist teachings. Each class is self-contained so you can drop-in any week. Beginners welcome.

Freedom from Craving and Attachment: May 1, 8, 15, 22

Discover the inner peace and mental freedom that comes from learning how to let go of habits of craving and attachment. We all experience craving in our lives, whether its for people, food, smartphones, or unhealthy substances. If we don’t have skilful ways of dealing with this habit of craving, it can easily lead to strong attachment and addictive tendencies. In this way it can easily undermine our peace of mind, happiness and self-esteem.

In this series we will explore meditations and mindfulness practises for daily life that will enable us to become free of craving and attachment. We will learn how to identify craving and attachment as it arises in our minds, and learn how to let it go. We will explore how meditation enables us to connect to and develop, a deep and natural source of inner peace, happiness and well-being within our own mind.

Meditations for a Clear Mind: May 29; June 5, 12, 19

Our mind’s true nature is like a clear sky, but so often it’s clouded by our busy, uncontrolled (and sometimes negative) thoughts. Learn how you can experience the inner peace and joy of a clear mind through simple meditations. Everyone is welcome!

Class Format

Each class begins with guided breathing meditation, to help settle the mind, let go of distractions and cultivate inner peace. Our Resident Teacher, Kelsang Shechog, will then give a practical teaching based on the topic of the class series and explain how we can integrate Buddha’s timeless wisdom into our busy daily lives. The class concludes with a guided meditation, designed to help us take the teaching to heart in such a way that we are confident in beginning to practice it on our own.

Afterwards there is opportunity for questions and discussion, and a chance to talk to the teacher and other students informally.
