New Zealand Dharma Celebration 2023

About the Celebration

The New Zealand Dharma Celebration is an annual event where people from the whole of NZ have a chance to come together and celebrate the teachings of Modern Buddhism in a peaceful yet vibrant environment. This Celebration is characterised by joy, positive energy and the kindness of others as it is all run by volunteers.

Join us for a long weekend to feel re-energised and charged with positive energy, and leave rejuvenated and inspired.

Empowerment of Buddha Vajrasattva and teachings on purification practice.
At this year’s New Zealand Dharma Celebration, Gen Kelsang Rabten will grant the empowerment of Vajrasattva, the Buddha of purification. The blessing ceremony will be followed by teachings on how to purify our negative karma by relying on Vajrasattva.
We all need to purify because we all experience so many obstacles in our lives. For example, when we contemplate Dharma we may not develop joy, and when we meditate on Dharma we do not develop realisations. Also, our lives are filled with problems and difficulties that are said to be the effects of our previous negative actions. To reverse this situation now is the time to purify.

“Since purification is the root of future happiness and spiritual realisations, we should strive to cleanse our mind of delusions and negative karma by practising the meditation and recitation of Vajrasattva.” – Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
