New Zealand Festival 2022

About the Festival

The New Zealand Festival is an annual event where people from the whole of NZ have a chance to come together and celebrate the teachings of Modern Buddhism in a peaceful yet vibrant environment. This Festival is characterised by joy, positive energy and the kindness of others as it is all run by volunteers.

Join us for a long weekend to feel re-energised and charged with positive energy, and leave rejuvenated and inspired.

Empowerment of Buddha 1000-Armed Avalokiteshvara and teachings on bodhichitta.
At this year’s New Zealand Festival Gen Kelsang Rabten will grant the blessing empowerment of 1000-Armed Avalokiteshvara, the embodiment of the compassion of all enlightened beings which has the power to protect everyone from their suffering and pain.

Gen Rabten will also give teachings on the precious mind of Bodhichitta—the best method for bestowing happiness, eliminating suffering, and dispelling confusion. According to Buddhism, there is no virtue equal to it, no better friend and no greater good fortune. In fact, Bodhichitta is the very essence of all eighty-four thousand instructions of Buddha. In Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life Shantideva says “It is the quintessential butter that arises when the milk of Dharma is churned.”
