About the Post Festival Retreat

This retreat is a wonderful opportunity to deepen our experience of the teachings from the New Zealand Kadampa Festival and greatly improve our mind of compassion as well as our connection with the Buddha of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara.

Held at the beautiful Strathean Retreat Centre in Te Horo, Kapiti Coast, the retreat will be guided by Gen Kelsang Rabten, a Buddhist monk and the NKT National Spiritual Director for New Zealand, Australia and South-East Asia. Gen Rabten has many years of experience guiding retreat at Centres in many countries around the world as well as at our major International Festivals.

While it is highly recommended to attend the NZ Kadampa Festival 2025 prior to joining this retreat, it is not essential.

Single Room + 1x Retreat: $575 per person

Twin Cottage (en suite bathroom) + 1x Retreat: $955 (2nd person needs to book 1x non-residential retreat rate separately)

Gen Kelsang Rabten is an internationally renowned teacher and Kadampa Buddhist monk and the NKT-IKBU National Spiritual Director of Kadampa Buddhism for New Zealand, Australia and southeast Asia. He has studied and taught modern Kadampa Buddhism for more than 27 years. He is much loved for his insight, humour and practical explanations of meditation and Buddhism.

Kadampa Meditation Centre Wellington has been relocated to Khandallah, in a tranquil and lush location yet close to public transport and parking. Our new address is 2 Ardross Avenue.
