    Gen Kelsang Shechog is a Buddhist nun and the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Wellington. Gen Shechog has been practising and teaching Kadampa Buddhism for over 16 years. Her teachings are exceptionally clear and she presents profound ideas in a way that is easily accessible and applicable to modern life. Gen Shechog is much loved for her gentle manner, kind heart and for showing an inspiring example for everyone on the spiritual path.

About the Retreat

Fill your heart with positive thoughts, good intentions, and Buddhist wisdom. By following a series of step by step meditations this retreat gives you the opportunity to connect with your own potential for inner peace and happiness and equips you with special practical methods for keeping a happy and positive mind.

The focus of the retreat will be one of Buddhism’s best loved teachings ‘Eight Verses of Training the Mind’ by the famous Buddhist meditator Geshe Langri Tangpa. These eight verses reveal powerful meditations that awaken our potential for loving kindness, compassion, and wisdom.

Whole event, in-person (includes refreshments) or online:

Friday only, in-person (includes refreshments) or online:

There will be break for lunch from 12.45pm to 2pm. You are welcome to bring your own vegetarian lunch to enjoy at our Meditation Centre, or take a short stroll to enjoy the nearby Island Bay cafes.
