    Kelsang Lachpa is a New Zealand Buddhist monk, ordained for over ten years, and the Education Programme Coordinator at our Centre. He is an experienced and warm-hearted teacher, inspiring others to find lasting peace and happiness through the practice of meditation and Buddhism. Lachpa is known for his thoughtful insights into Buddha’s teachings and his joyful practical approach to teaching. Lachpa teaches the Island Bay evening class, The Terrace after-work class and the Lower Hutt evening class.

Online • Live-Stream And Replay

Suitable for everyone, these online classes offer practical methods to help everyone find inner peace, happiness and well-being through meditation and Buddhist wisdom. Each class is self-contained so you can tune-in any week. Beginners welcome.

A different topic, or series, is taught every 3 or 4 weeks. Each class within a series can be viewed at any time up to a week after the end of the series.

Class Format

Each class begins with a simple guided meditation to make the mind peaceful and let go of distractions. The teacher will then give a talk based on the class topic, and explain how we can integrate beneficial ways of thinking into our busy daily lives. The class concludes with a second meditation so that we are confident to practise on our own.

Afterwards, there is an opportunity for questions.

Our mind has the potential to be our greatest healer. So much of the stress and tension we normally experience comes from our mind, and many of the problems we experience, including ill health, are caused or aggravated by this stress. By training in meditation and mindfulness we develop the power to overcome disturbing thoughts and to stay focused on what brings peace of mind. Through this we can discover our own incredible potential to heal and transform mental pain, anxiety, sorrow, physical suffering and sickness.
Everyone wants to be happy and content, but despite our best efforts to achieve this we often find ourselves miserable and stressed. In this course we will explore meditations and mindfulness techniques that enable us to recognise unhelpful states of mind as they arise, and we will learn how to let them go with confidence. Discover the peace of mind, freedom and genuine happiness that comes from letting go of worry, stress and frustration.

Life…. work hard, save money, try to find meaning in relationships, search for ‘happy ever after’. After a few years or decades, that formula doesn’t seem to be working. Is it broken? In our increasingly uncertain world are we beginning to feel purposeless and lost? If we combine our normal daily life with Buddha’s teachings on inner peace we will wake each day with renewed enthusiasm, content in the knowledge that we are actively progressing towards happiness, regardless of the circumstances of our life. This course will reveal how to transform daily life into the path to happiness, giving every moment direction and meaning.

Our relationships with others can have a huge impact on our happiness. Imagine if all your relationships were free from conflict and deeply satisfying. On this course we will explore practical methods for improving and transforming our relationships with our family, friends, colleagues and others. Through practising the meditations taught on this course, we can learn to let go of painful minds towards others and replace them with minds of loving kindness and patience that bring real joy and inner peace.
