    Kelsang Lachpa is a New Zealand Buddhist monk, ordained for over ten years, and the Education Programme Coordinator at our Centre. He is an experienced and warm-hearted teacher, inspiring others to find lasting peace and happiness through the practice of meditation and Buddhism. Lachpa is known for his thoughtful insights into Buddha’s teachings and his joyful practical approach to teaching.

Important Information
Please note that The Lower Hutt class is now held at the Flow Dance yoga studio on High Street at a new time of 7.15pm. Also note that the final class for 2022 will be on December 15. Check back early next year to find out when classes will resume for 2023.

Suitable for everyone, these walk-in classes offer practical methods to help everyone find inner peace, happiness and well-being through meditation and Buddhist wisdom. Each class is self-contained so you can drop-in any week. Beginners welcome. No booking required.

A different topic, or series, is taught every few weeks. See below for topics and dates.

Class Format

Each class begins with a simple guided meditation to make the mind peaceful and let go of distractions. The teacher will then give a talk based on the class topic, and explain how we can integrate beneficial ways of thinking into our busy daily lives. The class concludes with a second meditation so that we are confident to practise on our own.

Afterwards, there is an opportunity for questions and refreshments.

We accept cash, EFTPOS (including credit cards, but no payWave) and online bank transfer.

Topics & Dates

For as long as we hold on to hurt from others and our own mistakes, we will find it impossible to really move forward with our life. Holding on to these things keeps us locked into the same cycles of destructive thoughts and behaviours and prevents things from changing.

Buddha gave many powerful explanations to help us understand how to stop grasping at the past and how to let go of mistakes, hurt and resentment. This series gives us an opportunity to learn and become familiar with the meditations which free us from the past, enable us to forgive ourself and others and transform ourself into the person we wish to become.
