    Kelsang Lachpa is a New Zealand Buddhist monk, ordained for over ten years, and the Education Programme Coordinator at our Centre. He is an experienced and warm-hearted teacher, inspiring others to find lasting peace and happiness through the practice of meditation and Buddhism. Lachpa is known for his thoughtful insights into Buddha’s teachings and his joyful practical approach to teaching. Lachpa teaches the Island Bay evening class, The Terrace after-work class and the Lower Hutt evening class.

Suitable for everyone, these walk-in classes offer practical methods to help everyone find inner peace, happiness and well-being through meditation and Buddhist wisdom. Each class is self-contained so you can drop-in any week. Beginners welcome.

Cost

$14 (unwaged $10) | Free for Centre Members

Class Format

Each class begins with a guided breathing meditation to help settle the mind, let go of distractions and cultivate inner peace. The teacher will then give a talk based on the topic of the class series and explain how we can integrate beneficial ways of thinking into our busy daily lives. The class concludes with a second guided meditation so that we are confident to begin practising on our own.

Afterwards, there is an opportunity for questions and discussion and a chance to talk to the teacher.

Please note: On Monday 29 March, Coastlands Aquatic Centre will be closed for maintenance, however our meditation class will still run in the Meeting Room. To find the class, please continue past the main entrance to the pool and the meeting room door will be on your left.

In this series learn mindfulness techniques that enable us to connect directly to a more peaceful
mind and to let go of sources of conflict and worry. The result is not only more happiness in our own
life, but we will also be able to bring benefit and joy into the lives of others.

We all wish for good relationships, however often our relationships suffer from misunderstandings, unrealistic expectations and conflict.

In this series you will receive simple and practical advice about how to let go of the insecure mind of attachment, which gives rise to tension and conflict in our relationships, and how to deepen our authentic love.
