In our Monday classes with Kelsang Shechog learn simple methods to improve your inner peace, happiness and wellbeing through meditation and Buddhist techniques. Classes are self-contained, drop-in any week.

Love, Desire & Attachment: May 7, 14, 21, 28

Why is it that so often our relationships and interactions with others result in a storm of painful emotions? Why do we feel so much grief when we are separated from those we care for? And why does what appears to be a “perfect match” so often end in conflict? The answer to all these questions can be found within Buddha’s teachings on love, desire and attachment. By learning to distinguish between these very different, but often mixed states of mind, we can establish the foundation for lasting harmonious relationships, improve our experience of pure love and solve many of our daily problems.

Happiness: How to Understand the Mind: June 4, 11, 18, 25

Happiness and suffering are feelings – parts of our mind – and so their main causes are not to be found outside the mind. Gain insights into our mind, and discover how an understanding of its nature and functions can be used practically in everyday experience to improve our lives. Learn how to recognise and abandon states of mind that harm us and make us unhappy, and replace them with peaceful and beneficial ones. Start to make happiness your immediate reality.

Class Format

Each class begins with guided breathing meditation, to help settle the mind, let go of distractions and cultivate inner peace. Our Resident Teacher, Kelsang Shechog, will then give a practical teaching based on the topic of the class series and explain how we can integrate Buddha’s timeless wisdom into our busy daily lives. The class concludes with a guided meditation, designed to help us take the teaching to heart in such a way that we are confident in beginning to practice it on our own.

Afterwards there is opportunity for questions and discussion, and a chance to talk to the teacher and other students informally.
