These courses provide a great introduction to meditation and an opportunity to learn simple mindfulness techniques to overcome stress and worry, and to experience more happiness and joy. For each topic we recommend attending all four classes, however it is also fine to drop-in any week – each class is self-contained.
Learn to Meditate: August 28; September 4, 11, 18
Discover for yourself the inner peace and lightness of mind that come from meditation.
This series is an ideal way to learn the essential skills of successful meditation. It will also provide an opportunity to deepen our meditation experience and to train our mind to become more peaceful and pure. When our mind finds lasting inner peace, we will be happy all the time, even in the most adverse condition.
Mindfulness: October 2, 9, 16, 23
Everyone wants a happy mind: less worry and conflict, more love, more joy. But to make that happen we have to work at it. We need to actively train our minds. Applying the practice of meditation along with Buddha’s powerful insights gives us the tools to begin bringing about the changes we long for.
In this series we will learn meditation and mindfulness techniques so that we can connect directly to a more peaceful mind. Through this process we begin to let go of the sources of conflict and worry in our lives. The result is not only more joy in our own lives, but we also bring joy and benefit into the lives of others.
Overcoming Anxiety: November 13, 20, 27; December 4
Stress, anxiety and worry are parts of the mind, unpleasant feelings that arise in response to challenging situations. Meditation can help us to develop a more productive set of responses so that we free ourselves of these unhelpful mental habits.
This course will help us train in practical methods for overcoming anxiety – how to maintain a peaceful and positive mind at work and at home, improving all our relationships.
Suitable for everyone, these walk-in classes offer practical methods to help everyone find inner peace, happiness and well-being through meditation and Buddhist teachings. Each class is self-contained so you can drop-in any week. Beginners welcome.
