Suitable for everyone, these walk-in classes offer practical methods to help everyone find inner peace, happiness and well-being through meditation and Buddhist wisdom. Each class is self-contained so you can drop-in any week. Beginners welcome.
Happiness and suffering are feelings – parts of our mind – and so their main causes are not to be found outside the mind.
In this series we will gain a deep insight into our mind, and discover how an understanding of its nature and functions can be used practically in everyday experience to improve our lives. August 11, 18, 25, September 1
Whether in our personal life or at work, we often find our relationships with others give rise to many challenges that expose our anger, attachment, jealousy and expectations as well as feelings of resentment and unhappiness with ourselves and others. Explore how meditation has the power to profoundly improve and transform our relationships, both past and present. September 8, 15, 22 & 29
Habits of Happy People
We can all follow thoughts and ideas that lead to happiness rather than unhappiness. Simply understood, happy people have beautiful minds. In this four-week course we will explore how to develop positive states of mind, which lead to mental stillness, inner resilience and happiness. Become a truly happy person regardless of life’s difficulties and an inspiring force for the people around you. October 6, 13, 20 & 27
A Stress-Free Life
Few things can be more debilitating than ongoing stress. Learn techniques to reduce stress and its underlying causes and how to deeply relax your body and mind. In this way we can stay strong, peaceful and inwardly protected in the face of life’s challenges. November 3, 10 & 17
Developing Inner Confidence
We all want to feel good about ourselves. Suffering from a lack of self-confidence can adversely affect our daily life, relationships and well-being. In this series we will see how Buddhist wisdom offers us a different way of viewing ourself, relating to the extraordinary potential we all have rather than our limitations. Developing this inner confidence will naturally lead us to improve our good qualities and develop positive, happy states of mind, as well as enabling us to be a positive influence on those around us. November 24, December 1, 8 & 15
Each class begins with a guided breathing meditation to help settle the mind, let go of distractions and cultivate inner peace. The teacher will then give a talk based on the topic of the class series and explain how we can integrate beneficial ways of thinking into our busy daily lives. The class concludes with a second guided meditation so that we are confident to begin practising on our own.
Afterwards, there is an opportunity for questions and discussion, and a chance to talk to the teacher.
